Not sure which system you need?

Send us a photo of your latest electricity bill and we will recommend a system size for free.

Ask our engineers
How much does solar installation cost?

It depends on the system size (kWp), the type of system (on-grid, off-grid or hybrid), battery capacity, roof type and site conditions. A hybrid system with batteries costs more than an on-grid system of the same size.

The best way to get an accurate price is a free consultation. Share your monthly bill and we will prepare a quotation for your home or business.

How many solar panels do I need?

We look at your monthly consumption in kWh (found on your electricity bill), when you use the most power, and your available roof area. From there we calculate the system size and the number of panels. Higher-wattage panels mean fewer panels for the same capacity.

Can solar panels work during brownouts?

It depends on the system. A pure on-grid system automatically shuts off during a brownout. This is a safety requirement so no power flows back to linemen working on the grid.

Hybrid and off-grid systems have batteries, so your backed-up loads keep running during a brownout.

What is the difference between On-Grid and Hybrid?

An on-grid system has no battery. It reduces your bill during the day but gives no backup power. A hybrid system adds a battery, so solar energy you don't use during the day can power your home at night and during brownouts. Hybrid costs more upfront but gives you more independence.

Can I still receive an electricity bill with solar?

Yes, if you stay connected to the grid. You will still use some grid power, usually at night or on cloudy days, and your utility may charge fixed fees. The difference is that the bill becomes much smaller. Only a fully off-grid system has no electricity bill.

What is Net Metering?

Net metering is a program under the Renewable Energy Act that lets you export unused solar energy to the grid. Your distribution utility installs a bidirectional meter and credits the exported energy against your bill. iSOLAR can help you prepare the application requirements.

How long does solar installation take?

Most residential installations take 2 to 3 days on site once materials are ready. The full timeline, including site survey, design, equipment delivery and (if applicable) net metering approval, is longer. We give you a schedule with your quotation.

Does solar require maintenance?

Very little. Panels should be cleaned periodically, since dust and bird droppings reduce output. We also recommend a regular check of connections, the inverter and batteries. iSOLAR offers inspection and maintenance services for this.
